Visual Arts
In the Visual Arts Department of Evergreen High School, we teach students to Observe and Learn to Comprehend, Envision and Critique to Reflect, Invent and Discover to Create, and Relate and Connect to Transfer. We have state-of-the-art studios, providing students access to materials often only found at the collegiate level. Our art students obtain unique experiences in:
- Skill development, personal expression and engagement on a more personal and social-emotional level
- Exposure to art history, contemporary artists, local artists and galleries, field trips, student art shows, community involved artworks and installations
- Very broad experiences in different media/studios such as:
- traditional film photography - one of the few remaining high school programs for special interests, with a functional darkroom
- digital photography - very high end equipment and resources
- graphic design - full digital lab with high-end equipment and smooth transfer for professional level
- Adobe software programs - certification process in-house
- drawing - various media materials within drawing
- painting - various media/materials
- ceramics - various media/materials, gas firing kiln, various clays
- sculpture - full studio capable with various media/materials
- jewelry - metalsmithing, stone setting, silver casting, leatherworking, etc
- All programs have multi-level, semester long classes. Successful students can return for Intermediate and Advanced levels. Additionally, we offer AP 2D Design and AP 3D Art and Design art courses for dedicated artistic students.

- Mural club, Open Studio (3D), Media printing (posters, t-shirts, shwag, etc.)

- Job opportunities with local art centers and professional artists within media.

Visual Arts in Jeffco
Visual arts programs are an integral part of the core curriculum offered at every Jeffco school.
Jeffco Public Schools provides high-quality instruction, emphasizing a balance of studio art creation, critique and analysis and history. Students receive a curriculum based on the Colorado Academic Standards in drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, digital media, sculpture and ceramics.
