Test Optional – The list of test-optional schools is growing. This is a trend that started some time ago, but accelerated during Covid-19. Check with each college about test requirements as well as whether they “super score” their tests (meaning, they take the best combination of scores from multiple test-taking attempts).

Per state law, no student assessment scores can be posted on students’ transcripts. Can the scores be added to your transcript if you request them? At this time, the new statute is clear that no scores can be printed on the transcript, even if requested by students. 

How can you request these scores if you need them? Official scores need to be ordered from the testing service (College Board for SAT or ACT). 

Students will need to cover these costs. Every student is allocated four free score-sends from College Board, but they have to identify the schools they want scores sent to at the time of testing or soon thereafter (nine days). Students qualifying for fee waivers can request unlimited score sends at any time.

Can the scores be added to your transcript if you request them? At this time, the new statute is clear that no scores can be printed on the transcript, even if requested by students.
